So you just got engaged, and you want to celebrate your engagement by having an engagement party. But you’re not quite sure where to start and how to have an engagement party. So I’m Jessica Meiczinger, and I’m going to tell the steps on how to plan the engagement party and have a successful event. First of all, you want to have your party hosted either at your parents’ house or maybe your own home and invite all your friends and family. My suggestion is to keep it simple and have something that’s fun and upbeat and a mingling affair as opposed to like a sit down dinner at a restaurant or a country club. The idea of an engagement party is a celebration of you know a union coming up in the, near future. Also it’s a time for friends and family to meet each other from opposite sides of the family.
Sometimes it’s actually the first time the bride’s and groom’s parents are meeting and also the friends as well. So you want to keep it simple and fun and an atmosphere where the guests can talk amongst themselves. Some other ideas you know if you want to do a theme, you could do like a cocktail party and just serve like light hors d’oeuvres and you know champagne cocktails or beer and wine. That’s also fun to include as well. Also you know something fun to incorporate is have you know a book or some poster board set up and have the couples and family members and friends write advice to the bride and groom.
And that’s something that they can bring to the wedding and show off at the reception. Or keep as a keepsake for years to come. Some other fun ideas are you know you don’t necessarily have to play games, but you can you know showcase different pictures of the bride and groom growing up and share funny stories of how they met and some of their experiences, fun dates and where they’ve traveled. Those are just some other things that you might want to feature during the engagement party as well. So those are just some tips on how to plan an engagement party. Again I’m Jessica Meiczinger and happy planning. .
